Mission
What We Do
BECA, Inc. partners as volunteers in the community by providing assistance to several local organizations. We also award annual scholarships to high school students through the BECA, Inc. Edna R. Anthony Memorial Scholarship.
Outreach Efforts include:
- Battered Women’s Shelter, Charlotte Chapter
- Crisis Assistance Ministry
- Johnston YMCA
Scholarship Award Criteria:
- Candidates must be enrolled as a high school senior in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System and maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average.
- Eligible Candidates must attend a Historically Black College or University and declare a major in Criminal Justice, Journalism or Nursing.
- Candidates must submit a 1000 word essay on “Why I want to pursue a career in one of the following areas of study: Criminal Justice, Journalism or Nursing”. The essay must be doubled spaced and in 12-pt type.
- Application and essay may be submitted to either the high school guidance counselor, mailed to BECA, Inc., P.O. Box 42039, Charlotte, NC 28215, or faxed to 704-943-4454.
- Deadline for entry is May 31, 2008.
- Scholarship winners will be announced on June 30, 2008.
- Scholarships are in the amount of $500.
